Rev. Monique Lemmon has been serving as the pastor of Empowering Ministries since it's establishment in March, 2019. After serving as an associate minister for 8 years, Rev. Lemmon was brought on staff as the Minister of Discipleship at the New Psalmist Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, Sr. Under her leadership, the discipleship ministry blossomed and over 150 people continued to register each year for new classes. During her tenure, Rev. Lemmon played an instrumental role in establishing youth church and worked hands on with youth leaders for discipleship. After wise counsel from Rev. Lemmon's pastor, Bishop Thomas, and seeking guidance and direction from God, Rev. Lemmon closed that chapter of her ministry journey and stepped out on faith to plant Empowering Ministries.
Under Rev. Lemmon's leadership Empowering Ministries has established a food pantry, conducted outreach projects, made connections with the Park Heights Renassiance Community and built a partnership with the Druid Hill YMCA. Her love for children and her excitement to see the people become empowered to overcome life challenges has given her an established voice in the community. Rev. Lemmon is an out of the box thinker who looks for ways to reach the people that others have overlooked.
Rev. Lemmon received her Bachelor of Science degree from Nyack College in Organizational Management. She earned her Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology in Richmond, VA. Rev. Lemmon was ordained to 'Reverend' in 2016 after recently obtaining her master's degree and successfully completing her ordination training.
Rev. Lemmon and her husband, David, have been serving in ministry together throughout their 17 year marriage.
