Eagerly desiring and relationship

1 Cor 14:1 says "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy." Why should we eagerly desire the gift of prophecy over other gifts? I think it is two fold. Primarily, the gift of prophecy is also for the benefit of the body in that it provides encouragement, comfort and strenghtening. But surely that cannot be it as other gifts can also build the body. I am wondering whether it is also as prophecy can also encourage relationship with God, both for the person receiving the prophetic word but also the person giving. And relationship with God is the most important thing here! However, it is very easy to seek the prophetic, yet miss seeking the word giver, and I think that all prophetically gifted people need to seek relationship with God first, and then the prophetic will come. As Jesus told us, it is possible to prophecy without knowing him (Mt 7:21-23) So I we all need to seek relationship with God first, and then the prophetic will happen. I think this is the model that Jesus showed in his life.
