Growing in the prophetic

I often have conversations with people who are moving in prophetic gifting expressing their desire to grow in the prophetic. In fact, this has been my desire since I first got involved with this gift. So I, like many, have been searching to go deeper, hear more, see more detail. In this search, I fell upon a verse in Rom 12:6 which says about if a man's gift is prophesying, then he should use it in proportion to his faith. This shed an entire new light for me on growing in the prophetic. I wonder whether, to grow in the prophetic, we just have to learn to step out more and do it. Certainly this has been my experience. In the last few years, I would say that rather than receiving greater revelations, or more detail, I step out more and in this way have seen real growth in the gift that God has given me. So my challenge to you would be to stop waiting for growth, and start stepping out more and then you will see more growth. How do you become more fluent in a foreign language? Not by waiting for it to happen but by exercising it; speaking it. So it is with the Spiritual gifts I think. Happy Prophesying.
